A Guide to Science Communication Aimed at Young People
Communicating Science to Young People: A Quick Guide (eds. Venla Hakala & Heta Mulari) is intended for all researchers in the social sciences and humanities who want to
communicate their research findings to young people aged 13–18.
The guide offers concrete tips on communication formats, channels, and styles, insights into young people as an audience, and ethical considerations in science communication. It encourages researchers to develop youth‑oriented communication practices, to test their communication together with young people, and to share research findings boldly: even through channels that may feel unfamiliar.
The guide is based on interviews with 13–17‑year‑olds conducted during the ACElife research project, as well as the researchers’ own experiences with science communication.
